Context

Building credibility from nothing

Nodus Build is a commercial fitout company with a growing portfolio of office projects across Victoria.

I was the only person on this, defining the brand identity and guidelines, expanding communications in document templates and a motion email signature, creating a full-fidelity Figma prototype, coding a fully responsive website built in Next.js with a headless CMS. I trained the team on the CMS and stayed through hosting activation to make sure the launch didn’t leave any confusion.

Who I built for

When the founder came to me, they had neither a website nor a brand, just the work itself and a need for prospective clients to take them seriously.

The founder is a previous client from Paramount Disability Homes, someone who trusted me enough to come back for a second collaboration.

Design challenge

How might I build a brand and digital presence that earns the trust of prospective commercial clients before any conversation takes place?

The solution

Before it’s in Figma, it’s in the branding

A fitout company without an identity is asking prospective clients to trust the brand sans the context. While the client knew exactly how they wanted the brand to be perceived, the brand was prerequisite to how the website would look like.

I considered early customer touchpoints, early ones at least—digital documents and an email signature—with digital communications collateral to be extended upon once NODUS hits the ground running.

Modular construction for speed

The website design was prototyped at full fidelity. Design decisions were guided by an uncomplicated content hierarchy. Reusable components gave the design system consistency and accelerated production across the build.

Signed, shipped, developed

Two weeks of development powered by Next.js, Payload CMS, Supabase, and Resend. Enquiry form routing to the client's admin email was handled through Resend — a quieter technical challenge that kept the contact pipeline clean. A Vercel redirect conflict resolved during hosting activation was the final hurdle before the site went live.

Reflection

A repeat client is the most honest performance review

The founder returning for a second project, this time from 100% scratch, said more than any brief could. It meant the first collaboration left something useful behind, which then shaped how I approached Nodus Build from the start: not just building something that looked correct, but something the team could operate without me.
